Covid-19 brought a tidal wave of adjustments to our personal and professional lives. Instead of attending face-to-face meetings with our colleagues, we Zoom. An alternate to sending children to school, they log on from a computer in their bedroom. As the courts start to hear cases again, all matters are done virtually.

Another big change? This year the tax deadline has been moved from April 15th to May 17th, which is causing the stress level and blood pressure of accountants everywhere to soar higher than the stock market on a day when it rallies. Filing our taxes is something we have grown accustomed to doing every year. But what happens when you are going through a divorce?

How do you file these papers to Uncle Sam and know what boxes to check? Mark Balog is a New York based Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA). He says, clients have a couple of options when they are in-the-midst of this transition.

“By gathering as much information as possible,” Balog says, “will get you positive results including a few bucks back into your wallet.”
